We are delighted to share the outcome of our latest Ofsted inspection at Club Excel Multi Activity Holiday Camp at Beaumont School in St Albans.
The report highlights the exceptional standard of care, support and experiences we provide for children attending our holiday camps. Most importantly, it reinforces what this means for our families: children who feel safe, happy, valued and excited to come back each day.
The inspector awarded the highest judgement of Strong across every area of the inspection. She told us this was only the second time she had ever awarded a Strong judgement throughout an entire report and, during the verbal feedback following the inspection, described it as the highest grading she had ever given to a holiday camp. We are incredibly proud of this recognition and what it says about the experience we provide.
A Safe and Supportive Holiday Camp Environment
At Club Excel, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. The inspection recognised our “open and positive culture of safeguarding where concerns are actively identified and acted upon.”
For parents, this provides reassurance that their children are in safe hands. For children, it creates an environment where they feel secure, confident and able to make the most of every day at camp.
A Warm Welcome from the Club Excel Team
From the moment children arrive at Beaumont School, they are greeted by our “warm and welcoming staff team.”
We take the time to get to know every child, understanding their interests, personalities and individual needs so they settle quickly and confidently. The report highlights that we provide a “relaxed environment where children feel valued and able to be themselves.”
School holidays should be a time for children to have fun, make friends and enjoy new experiences, and we’re proud to create an environment where they can do exactly that.
Supporting Every Child to Thrive
At Club Excel, we believe every child deserves to feel included, supported and encouraged to succeed. Inspectors recognised our “highly inclusive ethos embedded across the club.”
Our experienced team provides “sensitive, tailored care that reduces barriers to wellbeing,” ensuring that all children, including those with additional needs, can participate fully, develop confidence and enjoy everything our holiday camps have to offer.
Building Confidence, Independence and Resilience
Our holiday camps are about much more than keeping children entertained during the school holidays.
Through structured routines, engaging activities and positive encouragement, children “develop independence and confidence in their daily routines.” They also learn to build friendships, work as part of a team and develop emotional resilience that extends well beyond their time at camp.
Fun, Friendship and Active Play
Having fun is at the heart of everything we do, and the inspection reflects this. Children were described as “highly motivated and enjoying their time at the club.”
Whether they’re bouncing on our giant inflatables, playing football and other sports, getting creative through arts, crafts, dance and theatre workshops, or taking part in exciting team games, there’s something for every child to enjoy.
Our wide range of activities encourages children to stay active, try new things and build lasting friendships throughout the school holidays.
Strong Leadership and Continuous Improvement
Our leadership team is committed to delivering the very best holiday camp experience for every child who attends Club Excel.
The inspection recognised how we “constantly review and adapt the provision” to ensure we continue improving. By listening to feedback from both children and parents, we make changes that have a “rapid and sustained impact,” ensuring our camps continue to evolve and exceed expectations year after year.
What This Means for Parents
Choosing the right holiday camp is about much more than finding childcare during the school holidays. Parents want to know their children will be safe, well cared for and genuinely enjoy their time away from home.
This Ofsted inspection provides independent recognition that Club Excel delivers exactly that. From outstanding safeguarding and inclusive practice to engaging activities and experienced staff, parents can book with confidence knowing their children will receive the highest standard of care in an environment where they can thrive.
Thank You to Our Families
We are incredibly proud of this achievement and would like to thank our amazing staff team, whose passion, professionalism and dedication made this possible. Since we opened in St Albans in 2018, the local community has been incredibly supportive of our holiday camps.
We would also like to thank all of the children and families who continue to support Club Excel. Your trust means everything to us, and we look forward to welcoming your children back for many more fun, safe and enriching holiday camp experiences.
